Borrowed Land, Borrowed Time explores the idea of impermanence. The impermanence of land, borders, belonging, and the human experience itself. Layered landscapes unfold within one another, creating a world that feels both familiar and otherworldly. Rivers move through mountains and valleys, while distant paths and scattered figures suggest migration, movement, and the countless lives that pass through these spaces.
The central landscape appears almost like a window into another world, surrounded by fragments of places that feel simultaneously connected and separate. The contrast between expansive terrain and the tiny human figures emphasizes the scale of the individual against something much larger and older than ourselves.
The work reflects on the belief that none of us truly owns the earth we inhabit. We arrive, we make our homes, we draw borders, we claim territories, and we create ideas of belonging—but ultimately, our time here is temporary. The land existed before us and will continue after us.
The tiny white figures scattered throughout the landscape become witnesses and travelers—representations of people moving through a world they can only temporarily call home. Their presence asks a quiet but urgent question: If the land is borrowed, and our time is borrowed, what does it mean to belong?
Borrowed Land, Borrowed Time is a meditation on displacement, belonging, impermanence, and our relationship to the earth. It is a reminder that perhaps we are not owners of this place, but brief visitors passing through something much greater than ourselves.

Can I purchase items with another currency?
Yes, you may select a currency based on your personal preference. When you select your country in the country selector on the upper right of the website or are taken directly to your country’s version of the website, you will see prices listed in the regional currency.
Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?
We do everything we can to fulfill orders quickly. If you believe your order was placed incorrectly, please reach out via email artctoussaint@gmail.com within 24hrs. If not ,unfortunately we would not be able to make any updates after an order has been placed. These changes include removing or adding products and/or changing the delivery address. If a mistake has been made with your order information, it’s quickest to create a new order with the correct information.
Certificate Of Authenticity?
All originals come with a certificate of authenticity. They are printed on a beautiful, smooth premium paper with pigmented inks designed to last a lifetime. It will be hand signed with a special love note inside. The certificate will accompany your painting inside our gold embossed certificate holders.
Shipping Times?
We will deliver products to you as soon as reasonably possible. Fine art print orders take up to 14 business days to process with us. Originals take 2-4 weeks to prepare for shipment to make sure everything is absolutely perfect! Please contact us our team if your delivery has not been received within the dates described.
How To Return My Items?
We do not currently offer free returns to overseas customers. You will therefore need to cover all costs of returning any items to us yourself. We advise that you mark your package ‘returned goods’ to avoid further duties. Remember: We strongly recommend that you return any items via a registered trackable service and obtain and retain proof of posting as we do not accept responsibility for items that fail to arrive with us.
